Upcoming Changes to DBS Check Fees Effective from 2nd December 2024
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has announced upcoming changes to the fees for DBS checks and the DBS Update Service, effective from 2nd December 2024 (subject to ministerial approval). While DBS checks for volunteers will remain free of charge, fees for all other DBS products are set to increase.
Details of the Proposed Fee Changes
The projected new DBS fees are as follows (please note these are subject to final approval when the proposal is laid before Parliament on 4th November 2024):
Enhanced DBS Check: Increasing from £38 to £49.50
Standard DBS Check: Increasing from £18 to £21.50
Basic DBS Check: Increasing from £18 to £21.50
DBS Update Service: Increasing from £13 to £16
These changes will be automatically reflected in the Personnel Checks system.
Please note that these fee increases are entirely out of our control and reflect changes in the DBS's pricing structure. Our administration fee remains unchanged.
Why Are DBS Fees Changing?
DBS fees are reviewed annually to ensure they cover the full cost of running checks while providing good value to customers. Over the past few years, the DBS has reduced fees on two separate occasions. However, the most recent review revealed that the significant growth in demand for DBS checks now necessitates substantial investment in improving their resources and infrastructure, mainly in modernizing and replacing legacy IT platforms.
Impact on You
