  • The cost of a DBS check varies depending on the type of check you require.

    Cost Breakdown:

    Basic DBS Check: £36.00 (includes £18.00 DBS fee)

    Standard DBS Check: £40.00 (includes £18.00 DBS fee)

    Enhanced DBS Check: £60.00 (includes £38.00 DBS fee)

    Volunteer DBS Check: £22.00 (no DBS fee)

    Personnel Checks offer a fast, efficient service with no set-up fees. (Prices Excl. VAT).

  • An Enhanced DBS check costs £75.90, which includes the DBS fee. This is the most comprehensive check available and includes checks of information held locally by police forces.

  • The cheapest DBS check offered by Personnel Checks is the Volunteer DBS Check, priced at £26.40 with no DBS fee. However, this DBS Check is not suitable for most roles.

    For non-volunteer roles, the Basic DBS Check is the cheapest at £43.10. You can find out more information here.

  • The price of a DBS Check is governed by the Disclosure and Barring Service. The prices they charge DBS Umbrella Bodies, like Personnel Checks, is dependent on their operating costs.

    The DBS cost for DBS Checks has actually been reduced on multiple occasions. The DBS’ policy is that they will try and reduce costs where possible to be able to provide a cost-effective service to the public.

  • While DBS checks are generally not free, some volunteer positions may be eligible for a free DBS check.

    However, to access free Volunteer DBS Checks, your organisation would need to be a registered body for the Disclosure and Barring Service.

    Personnel Checks offer Volunteer DBS Checks for a fixed rate of £26.40 per check, to cover our admin costs.

  • The cost of a DBS Certificate is included in the cost of the DBS check itself. There is no separate fee for the certificate.

  • CRB Checks were the name given to criminal record checks conducted by the Criminal Records Bureau. This organisation merged with another to form the DBS in 2012.

    CRB checks have been replaced by DBS checks. The pricing for DBS checks can be found above on this page, or in the FAQs to your left.

  • At £13 per year, the DBS Update Service offers a cost-effective way to keep a Standard or Enhanced DBS Check up to date.

  • A Standard DBS check costs £52.20, which includes the DBS fee. You can find more info on Standard DBS Checks here.

  • The list price for the Basic, Standard and Enhanced Scottish Disclosures are £49.99 (Government Fee: £25 + £24.99 Admin Fee).

    The price for a first-time application to the PVG Scheme is £83.99 (Government Fee: £59 + £24.99 Admin Fee).

    The price for an existing PVG member to apply to work with a new vulnerable group is £83.99 (Government Fee: £59 + £24.99 Admin Fee).

    The price for a Scheme Record Update, for PVG members joining a new organisation but working with the same vulnerable group is £42.99 (Government Fee: £18+ £24.99 Admin Fee).
