DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CONFIRM DROP IN FEES FROM APRIL
Last month we published an article, outlining the Disclosure and Barring Service’s (DBS) plan for reducing the prices for DBS Checks. Following a review into their pricing structure. The result of this review is that a change to legislation was proposed that will allow them to reduce their fees.
Eric Robinson, CEO of DBS, said:
“We aim to offer good value for money to our customers and, after a review, we are pleased to be able to reduce the fees for DBS checks. The change in fees reinforces our commitment to providing high quality, reliable, consistent, timely, and accessible services.”
The proposal needed to be debated in parliament before a reduction in price could be confirmed. The change to legislation has now been voted on and the DBS have confirmed that from the 6th April 2022, the prices for all DBS Checks will be reduced.
Below are the new prices for DBS Checks as of the 6th April 2022:
Type of DBS check Current DBS fee* Revised DBS fee* from April 6th 2022
Basic DBS check £23.00 £18.00 (£5 reduction)
Standard DBS check £23.00 £18.00 (£5 reduction)
Enhanced DBS check £40.00 £38.00 (£2 reduction)
*Prices exclude our service/administration fees.
Standard and Enhanced DBS checks for volunteers remain free of charge. No changes will be made to the cost of registering for the DBS Update Service (£13 annually) or the cost of Adult First Checks (also known as POVA or ISA Checks).
As part of our commitment to providing the best value service to our customers, we will of course be passing on these savings. Any changes to the price of our DBS Checks will automatically be applied to all our existing customer accounts.
We have outlined the changes to the list price of our DBS Checks in the table.
